Soft Edge: How to Use Aveda Color and Styling Products to Create Inspiring Finishes
The Ruiz Artistic Team out of Austin, Texas, collaborates on inspiring, yet attainable, finishes using Aveda color and styling products.
Rooted and Cool
On prelightened hair, Ruiz Artistic Team member Vanessa Whitmarch used the toner formula of ON +1 g BPP + 1G gPP with10 volume. She cut long textured fringe and set hair with a 1-inch iron, then backcombed and shaped “bumps” on the top half and set with Aveda Control Force. Waves were created in the bottom half and sprayed with Aveda Texture Tonic.
Gust
Ruiz Artistic Team member Steven Cantu applied 5YO + CTA all over, and styled by parting the hair from ear to ear, creating a horizontal French twist in each section, leaving out wisps in back and adding Control Force for hold.
Contrast
On pale yellow pre-lightened hair, Ruiz Artistic Team member Diana Skrabanek toned with 30 g 0N + 10 g Ash with 5 volume. In the blowout, she used Aveda Pomade Gel, followed by a rake comb and diffuser.
Swept Metallic
On pre-lightened hair, Ruiz Artistic Team member Corrine Kimbro used 5BG with 10 volume on the new growth, and 40 g 0N + 3 g Lbb + 1 g Lb/gr with 5 volume on ends, emulsifying the two together. On the cut, Kimbro used forward graduation around the face with a one-length fringe. Hair was flat ironed straight, sprayed with Aveda Air Control and brushed with Spray on Shine.
