5 Minutes With Aveda Artist Frank Rizzieri

Welcome to February, the month of love and New York Fashion Week! This month we are excited to be backstage for both men’s and women’s fashion weeks. As always, Aveda Artist Frank Rizzieri will join us as the lead artist to create some of the runway ready looks.
Along with working fashion week, Frank is the owner of Rizzieri Salons, Spas and Schools in New Jersey and was recently named a “2015 Circle of Excellence Winner” by Philadelphia’s SmartCEO magazine.
Get to know more about Frank in this “5 Minutes Series”:
HOMETOWN:
Blackwood, New Jersey
HOME NOW:
Moorestown, New Jersey and TriBeCa, New York; there’s nothing like traveling across the Hudson to Manhattan for a few nights stay. Plus it’s very convenient for working in the city during fashion week and in planning the opening of my boutique salon FOURTEENJAY at 14 Jay Street. You can see more about FOURTEENJAY on Instagram @fourteenjay.
FAVORITE ARTWORK:
I love everything about photographers Tim Walker and Nick Knight. Their imagery and storytelling throughout their work is inspiring.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT FASHION WEEK?
I really enjoy being under pressure to finish 30 looks in less than two hours. I love the adrenaline, the excitement and all the creativity coming together so quickly.
HOW DID YOU FEEL WORKING YOUR FIRST FASHION WEEK SHOW?
It was in 2002 and the first time Aveda was a sponsor at Fashion Week. People loved being able to see Aveda backstage and to touch and feel the products. They also loved experiencing the wonderful Aveda aromas, which created calm in a usually chaotic backstage.
IF YOUR LIFE WERE A SONG, WHAT IS THE TITLE:
“I Want To Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles.
IF YOU COULD BE ANY ANIMAL, WHAT WOULD YOU BE:
A cheetah because they are beautiful and super fast.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY?
This industry gives you the ultimate in creativity and you can use whatever inventiveness you want; and it’s accepted on every level.
WHY DO YOU LOVE AVEDA:
I love Aveda’s stance on the environment and their support of the artistry in hairdressing.
SHARE WITH US A QUICK HAIR TIP
Create a plumped up, shiny ponytail by first applying Thickening Tonic to amp up strands; straighten with a blow dry and then finish off the look with a misting of Aveda Brilliant™ Spray-On Shine. (See this look here, created by Frank for the Stella McCartney 2016 Resort Collection).
